Qatalum Shines at the Hydro Aluminium Metal Summit Awards 2024
Qatalum has earned top honours in Safety and Quality at the Hydro Aluminium Metal Summit 2024 in Oslo, achieving a prestigious double win that underscores the company’s commitment to excellence and leadership in the global aluminium industry.
The success was driven by the collective efforts and shared vision of employees and departments across Qatalum. From frontline teams to support functions, everyone played a vital role in fostering the culture, discipline, and coordination that led to this recognition.
These achievements were made possible through the lowest Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) and ZERO Lost Time Injuries (LTI), alongside the lowest customer complaint rate in the company’s history — a result of rigorous, cross-functional collaboration and unwavering commitment to operational excellence.
The awards were received by a dedicated Qatalum delegation, reflecting the company’s strong presence and reputation on the global stage.
Commenting on the achievement, CEO Khalid Laram stated: “These awards are a testament to the mindset and discipline of our people. They reflect how we come together as one team to uphold the highest standards in everything we do — and how we are helping shape a more sustainable and responsible aluminium industry for the future.”
Special recognition was given to the delegation that represented Qatalum at the summit, whose professionalism played a key role in securing this success. The team included Chief Operations Officer Stian Tangen; Chief Financial Officer Ahmad Al-Khudairi; Chief Technical Officer Yousuf AL-Ejji; Process Improvement Specialists Alhanoof Al-Marri and Sergio Zunguze; Superintendent Potline Operations Mohammed Sowayed; and Metal Systems Planner Fatema Al-Shaikh. Their contributions – both at the event and in the lead-up to these achievements – reflected Qatalum’s values and high standards.
These awards reaffirm Qatalum’s position as a trusted global aluminium producer and highlight the values that continue to guide the company’s progress: excellence, responsibility, and long-term impact.
To acknowledge the achievement, internal recognition was extended by CEO Khalid Laram to all involved. This appreciation serves as a strong motivation to continue striving for excellence, reinforcing the shared pride and unity across the organisation.
